  5.   This is one of a series of archives of Falcon Image Utilities from
  6.   SKWare One. If you have not downloaded those others listed here, you
  7.   may find all (or most) of them useful and/or entertaining.

  10.   These utility programs will display only on Falcon030. They will
  11.   function on ST/STe/MegaSTe/TT030, but without any display:
  12.  
  13.   XGA__TGA.LZH      Programs to convert XGA to TGA format and TGA to XGA,
  14.                     XGA and TGA viewer programs. ST/TT converters included.
  15.   IFF2XIMG.LZH      Converts Amiga 32-color (5-plane) IFF to 256-color
  16.                     XIMG. ST/TT version is included; display only on Falcon.
  17.   SPEC2XGA.LZH      Converts Spectrum (.SPU and .SPC) files to XGA TrueColor.
  18.                     An ST/TT version is included; display only on Falcon.

  21.   These utility programs will run and/or display ONLY on Falcon030.
  22.   They WILL NOT function on ST/STe/MegaSTe/TT030:

  24.   RWL2XIMG.LZH      Converts Seymor-Radix IMG_Scan raw data files to 256-color
  25.                     XIMG. Sample file included. Excellent image quality.
  26.   CS__DEMO.LZH      Falcon030 TrueColor demo of COLORSCAN II. Converts scanned
  27.                     IMG files to colors and greys.
  28.   CSCANIMG.LZH      Mono IMG file for conversion by CS__DEMO.
  29.   SURATXGA.LZH      Seurat TrueColor image in XGA format.

  32.   RUNS ON ALL ATARI 680x0 PLATFORMS:
  33.  
  34.   BITCAMRA.LZH      Enlarges, reduces and reproportions monochrome, 4-color,
  35.                     16-color, 256-color, and TrueColor images with remarkable
  36.                     speed and accuracy. Loads GEM IMG, STTT IMG, XIMG, and
  37.                     XGA images. (This a demo version; save is disabled.) May
  38.                     be used as viewer for conversions from programs above;
  39.                     runs on everything Atari except 8-bits...

  44.   IMFORMAT.LZH      Proposed SKWare One IMG format extensions.

  48.   MONITORS: These programs have been developed for use on RGB monitors
  49.   when run on Falcon030. They have not been tested on VGA monitor systems
  50.   and certain ones of them will definitely not function with VGA.

  54.   TRUE COLOR CONVERTERS AND VIEWERS:
  55.   
  56.   The following programs can be started in any Falcon resolution.  They
  57.   switch resolutions for program operations and return to the boot rez on
  58.   exit or in the case of error.  Most programs run in a load-save loop;
  59.   all can be exited by clicking "Cancel" on the load fileselect.  (Can-
  60.   celing a save fileselect merely skips the user forward to another load.)
  61.   All conversions are displayed paused, with the program waiting for a
  62.   user keypress before proceeding with the save or the next load.

  65.   XGA__TGA.LZH:
  66.  
  67.   VIEW_XGA is a viewer for the six screen sizes of XGA images enumerated
  68.   in the XGA note below.
  69.   
  70.   VIEW_TGA is a viewer for Targa16 files of the type used for the Moving
  71.   Pixels slideshow on the Falcon harddrive.  The loaded files must be an
  72.   uncompressed 384x480 image in Targa16 format, datatype 2.  No other types
  73.   or sizes are supported. (Future enhancement is expected.)

  75.   TGA2_XGA converts Targa16 files of the type specified above to XGA files.
  76.   The .XGA file is written to the directory which contained the .TGA file.
  77.   
  78.   XGA2_TGA converts XGA files of the type specified above (only 384x480 XGA
  79.   screensaves) to uncompressed datatype 2 Targa16 files of the same size.

  81.   ST_X2TGA and ST_T2XGA are display-less versions of the above. They will
  82.   run on ST/TT's to produce conversion files.

  85.   NOTE: XGA file "format" is informal (non-documented). It consists of
  86.   nothing more than a TrueColor screensave. (BITCAMERA loads six sizes of
  87.   XGA.) There are eight TrueColor screen sizes, four with square pixels:
  88.   320x200, 384x240, 640x400, and 768x480; two with horizontal brickbat 
  89.   pixels: 320x400 and 384x480; two with vertical brickbat pixels: 640x200
  90.   and 768x240. (The last type, with vertical pixels, is not supported in
  91.   BitCamera as VGA monitors cannot display 80-column TrueColor raster.)
  92.         Note: the Atari XGA filetype should not be confused with the IBM
  93.   graphic standard with the same designation. The designation was adopted
  94.   by Greg Kopchak for his Photo CD images because of its use on the frame 
  95.   files of the Flight animation. Does this mean that they were developed 
  96.   using an IBM XGA video board? (No wonder DrBob was confused...) Why don't
  97.   we adopt the extension ".AGA" ( = "AtariGA") for images in the TrueColor
  98.   raster word format? A header block is needed to allow for sizes other
  99.   than screensave sizes to be utilized (See IMFORMAT.TXT).
